The Talav village has a temporary settlement of Vansfoda ( Vaas Vadee) and Bajaniyaa families. The families that included very small children had to literally run for their lives when the gushing winds and flood waters rushed into their village during the recent floods. They took refuge on the roof of an Ashramshala situated in their village. Half of the village was already on the terrace of the Ashramshala. Today no one opposed the presence of these families. For five days teh village remained submerged in water. The raw material (bamboos) of the Vaas Vadee began rotting and the baskets that had been prepared became turned black rendering  it worthless for sales. The raw material worth Rs. 25,000 has been reduced to waste. While for the Bajaniyaa families who work as manual labourers there is no scope of employment left until th regions returns back to normalcy. 

For now the relief kits by VSSM has helped them erect temporary structures for shelter and keep the kitchen fires burning.  What now is the big question these and many like them are staring at right now.!!

બનાસકાંઠાના વાવ તાલુકાનાં ટડાવમાં વાંસવાદી અને બજાણીયા પરિવારો અસ્થાયી વસવાટ કરે. તા. ૨૮મી જુલાઈ નાં રોજ ભયંકર વાવાઝોડું અને સાંબેલાધાર વરસાદ સાથે જ ધસમસતા વહી રહેલા પ્રવાહમાં ઝૂંપડા ઊડી ગયા કેટલુંક તણાઈ ગયું. જીવ બચાવવા બાળકો સ્ત્રીઓ સાથે જે હાથ આવ્યુ તે લઈને નાઠા. ગામની આશ્રમશાળાનાં ધાબે પહોંચ્યા. ત્યાં પહેલાંથી જ અડધું ગામ પહોંચી ગયું હતું. પણ આજે આ સમુદાયોનો કોઈએ વિરોધ કર્યો નહિ. પાંચેક દિવસ પાણીમાં ગામ ડૂબેલું હતું. આ તરફ વાંસવાદીઓનાં વાંસ પલળી ગયા. તૈયાર કરેલ ટોપલા, સૂંડલા ભરાયેલા પાણીમાં કાળા થઇ ગયા. જે હવે કોઈ ખરીદવાનું નથી. પચ્ચીસેક હજાર રૂપિયાનો કાચો માલ હાલતો નકામો પડ્યો છે. બજાણીયા પરિવારો મજૂરી કરી આજીવિકા મેળવતા. પણ અત્યારે તો મજૂરી ક્યાં મળે?

The rains and floods last month played havoc in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Mehsana’s Fichadi village was was overflowing with water, the constructions on the natural water vents to a very great extent resposible for the flooding of this village. The houses in the village were all flooded. The Vansfoda families who stayed in shanties were left with nothing, the winds blew away their homes and the water swept away their belongings. 

The sarpanch and village leaders took an initiative and broke the walls of the construction hindering the water flow, allowing the waters to recede. VSSM’s relief kits reached the Vansfoda families giving them the basics to sustain until things got back to normal. 

We are thankful to our well-wishers for the support they have provided to enable  us to reach to the people in extreme need of help.

મહેસાણા જીલ્લાના બેચરાજી તાલુકાના ફીંચડીગામમાં વાંસફોડા પરિવારો રહે. ૨૦૧૫ના જુલાઈ મહિનાના અંતમાં આવેલા વરસાદે ફીંચડીગામને પાણીથી ભરી દીધું. મૂળ તો વરસાદી પાણીના નિકાલ માટેનો કુદરતી રસ્તો અવરોધાયો હતો અને એટલે ગામમાં વરસાદી પાણીનું સ્તર વધી રહ્યું હતું. આખા ગામની દશા ખરાબ થઇ રહી તેમાં વિચરતા પરીવારોમાંના વાંસફોડા તો છાપરામાં રહે એમના છાપરાં તો પહેલાં પવને જ ઉડાળી મુક્યા અને બાકી હતું એના ઉપર પાણી ફરી વળ્યું. ગામના સરપંચ અને અન્ય આગેવાનોએ સમયસુચકતા વાપરી પાણીને અવરોધથી મારુતિ પ્લાન્ટની દીવાલ તોડી ત્યારે જતા ગામમાંથી પાણીનો નિકાલ થયો અને સૌને હાશ થઇ. 

વાંસફોડા પરિવારોના છાપરાનું મીણીયું ઉડી ગયું અને ઘર વખરી પલળી ગઈ. vssm આ પરિવારોનો આધાર છે એટલે જ એમણે આપણને મદદ માટે કહ્યું. vssm સાથે સંકળાયેલા દાતાઓ જેઓ હમેશાં અમારી સાથે છે એમના કારણે જ અમે આ પરિવારોને સમયસર છાપરું ઢાંકવા તાડપત્રી, અનાજ, વાસણ અને અન્ય ચીજો પહોચાડી શક્યા. સૌનો આભાર..

Three Vansfoda families stayed on the bank of a lake in the village called Nana in Harij block of Patan. The floods in the region were unprecedented and  swept away whatever little they owned. The gushing winds and water took along all their belongings. The immediate need was for grains and tarpaulin which were supplied on immediate basis through VSSM’s relief operations.

VSSM has been trying to get residential plots allocated to these families in Nana village but the villagers are opposing their premarital settlement in the village. Hence these families and many nomadic families are required to stay away from the village,  on banks of a lake or wastelands where their is this permanent threat to the lives. The solution to such continued apathy is nothing but ensuring a dignified existence of such families!!

પાટણ જીલ્લાના હારીજતાલુકાના નાણા ગામમાં ત્રણ વાંસફોડા પરિવારો ગામના તળાવના કિનારે રહે. વર્ષ ૨૦૧૫માં આવેલા ભારે વરસાદ અને ઉપરવાસમાંથી છોડેલા પાણીથી તળાવના કિનારે રહેતાં આ પરિવારોનું બધું જ તણાઈ ગયું. આ પરિવારોને તત્કાલ અનાજ અને તાડપત્રીની જરૂરિયાત હતી. જે vssm દ્વારા આપવામાં આવી. 

આ પરિવારોને કાયમી વસવાટ માટે નાણા ગામમાં જ રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળે એ માટે અમે પ્રયત્ન કરી રહ્યા છે ગામના લોકો આ પરિવારોના વસવાટ સામે વિરોધ કરી રહ્યા છે. એટલે જ ગામથી દુર આ રીતે તળાવની પાળે રહેવું પડે છે જ્યાં જીવનું જોખમ પણ છે.. 

વિચરતા પરિવારોની વસાહતોમાં જઈએ વધુને વધુ પરિવારોને મળતા જઈએ ત્યારે હમેશા થાય છે ક્યાં સુધી આ બધા પરિવારો આવી અમાનવીય સ્થિતિમાં જીવ્યા કરશે... આ પરિવારોને પણ તેમના હક અધિકાર ઝટ મળે એવું કામ ક્યારે થશે?

The Vansfoda families living on the banks of a lake in Boratwada village of Patan’s Harij block lost almost althea belonging in the recent floods of northern Gujarat. The rains made the lake overflow, the families were left with no time  to salvage their belongings. The wind gush have blown away their roofs. They took shelter in the nearby temple. Five days later when the waters receded they went back to see if there was anything left at the place their homes were!! Nothing!! All their belongings had been washed away. 

VSSM’s Mohanbhai brought the condition of these families to the notice of the TDO. “We had not asked them to stay on the banks of a lake. How can we help anyone who has invited trouble!!” was the reply Mohanbhai received from teh TDO. The families had no food to eat. Administration was distributing cash dole but refused to pay Rs. 60 to these families. 

VSSM was quick in responding to the calamity . The relief kits that included food and tarpaulin soon reached these families. The families had left Boratwada and found shelter at Sarvaal village. There too they were robbed of their relief material. Currently they are staying at Kureja village on Patan road. 

Calamity or no calamity the challenges for the nomadic families continue to remain the same.

vssm દ્વારા પાટણના બોરતવાડા ગામમાં રહેતાં વાંસફોડા પરિવારોને રાહત કીટ આપવામાં આવી 

પાટણ જીલ્લાના હારીજ તાલુકાના બોરતવાડા ગામમાં તળાવના કિનારે વાંસફોડા પરિવારો રહે. તાજેતરમાં આવેલા વરસાદના પાણીએ તળાવની પાળ તોડી નાખી. વરસાદની સાથે સાથે પવન પણ ખુબ ફૂંકાયો. જે એમના છાપરાના મીણીયાને ઉડાળીને લઇ ગયો. પાણી એ રીતે વધ્યું કે સામાન પણ ના લઈ શક્યા. પાણીથી બચવા ગામના રામજી મંદિરમાં આશરો લીધો. પાંચેક દિવસ રોકાયા. સામાન તો બચ્યો નહોતો એટલે રહેતાં હતાં એ સ્થળે જવાનો મોહ નહોતો.. પાણી ઓસર્યું પછી બચેલો સમાન લેવાના આશયથી ગયા પણ નિરાશ થઈને પાછા આવ્યાં.

vssm ના કાર્યકર મોહનભાઈ આ પરિવારોને મદદરૂપ થવા માટેની રજૂઆત લઈને તાલુકા વિકાસ અધિકારી પાસે ગયા. તો સાહેબે કહ્યું, ‘તળાવના કિનારે રહેવાનું તો અમે નહોતું કહ્યું, કોઈ જાતે ખાડામાં પડે તો એમાં અમે શુ કરીએ’ આ પરિવારો પાસે ખાવાનું નહોતું. ગામમાં કેશડોલનું વિતરણ થઇ રહ્યું હતું પણ આ પરિવારોને રૂ.૬૦ આપવામાં ના આવ્યાં.

vssm દ્વારા વિચરતા પરિવારોને તત્કાલ રાહત આપવાનું થયું એમાં બોરતવાડામાં રહેતાં પરિવારોને પણ તાડપત્રી અને અન્ય સામગ્રી આપી. આ પરિવારો ગામ છોડી નજીકમાં આવેલા સરવાલમાં રહેવા ગયા પણ રાહતમાં આપેલો માર્યાદિત સામાન એમના છાપરામાંથી કોઈ ચોરી જતા એમણે એ ગામ પણ છોડી દીધું. હાલ તેમણે પાટણ રોડ પર આવેલા કુરેજા ગામમાં પડાવ નાખ્યો છે. 

વિચરતા પરિવારો કેવી વિટંબણા વેઠે છે સ્થાઈ સરનામું અને પાકું ઘર મળે તો આ દુર્દશાનો અંત આવે.. હા રોજગારનો પ્રશ્ન તો સૌથી વહારે વિકટ છે પણ vssm સદાય એમની પડખે છે..

આ પરિવારોને vssm દ્વારા જે સામાન આપવામાં આવ્યો એ જોઈ શકાય છે..

The settlement of Vansfoda families staying in Korda village of Santalpur block in Patan was flooded if the waters from catchment areas accompanied with the inconsistent rains triggered flash floods in the region along with many other parts of Gujarat. These Vansfoda families are engaged in selling plastic house ware including buckets and tubs,  requiring them to move from place to place, spending more time in Patan. The torrential rains and floods not only swept away their shanties in Korda but also displaced them from Patan as well. 

When the families received the news that their homes in Korda were washed out they reached Korda. Whatever little they had owned was swept away, buying new tarpaulins was not possible. With no roof to take shelter they were in extremely bad condition. VSSM reached these families with the required relief material. The good and material they sell hasn’t been affected hence they should spring back to normal soon. The financial loss would have been more had their been an impact on the trading material.

It is not for the first time such calamity has affected these families. Natural disaster keep happening and the most adversely affected groups are the ones who are reeling under poverty and marginalisation. These and many other families including themomadic families who have lost whatever little they cling to belong to some of the most marginalised sections of our society. Unless these groups aren’t pulled out of the vicious  cycle of poverty + marginalisation = suffering they will keep getting affected by both natural and man made calamities that strike.

પાટણ જીલ્લાના સાંતલપુર તાલુકાના કોયડાગામમાં રહેતા વાંસફોડા પરિવારો પ્લાસ્ટીકના તબકડા, ડોલ, ટબ વગેરે વેચવાનું કામ કરે. આ પરિવારો ધંધા અર્થે ગામ છોડી પાટણ આવીને રહ્યા હતાં અને વરસાદ ખુબ પડતા એમના કોયડામાં આવેલા છાપરામાં પાણી ભરાયા. સાથે સાથે વાવાઝોડાથી પ્લાસ્ટિક ઉડી ગયા. 

વળી પાટણમાં ધંધા અર્થે આવીને રહ્યાં ત્યાં પણ પાણીએ તારાજી સર્જી હતી. હાલત ખરાબ થઇ ગઈ હતી. ગામમાં બધું તારાજ થઇ ગયાનું જાણીને ઘરે પહોચ્યાં. જાતને સંભાળવી મુશ્કેલ હતી. પ્લાસ્ટિકનું મીણીયું આમ વારેવારે ખરીદવું પોસાય નહિ.. વળી સામાન પણ તારાજ થયો જ હતો ને.. 

vssm દ્વારા આ પરિવારોને તત્કાલ રાહત સામગ્રી આપવામાં આવી.. તેમના વ્યવસાયને બહુ નુકશાન થયું નથી એટલે આશા છે કે તેઓ ઝટ બેઠા થઇ જશે.. પણ પ્રશ્ન છે આવું ક્યાં સુધી ચાલવવાનો. દર થોડા વખતે આવીજ રીતે બધું તારાજ થઇ જાય છે અને ફરી પોતાની જાત સંભાળી બધું સમેટવામાં પાછા લાગી જવાનું પણ હવે આ લોકો થાક્યા છે. સદીઓથી એમની પેઢીઓ આ યાતના વેઠીને જ જતી રહી અને હવે એમનો વારો!!

વિચરતા અને વિમુક્ત પરિવારો જે અમાવીય સ્થિતિમાં રહે છે એ સ્થિતિમાં દર વર્ષે આવી કોઈને કોઈ આફતો એમના માથે ત્રાટકતી જ રહે છે. આવામાં સરકાર એમને સન્માન સાથે રહેણાંક અર્થે સારી જગ્યા આપે એ જરૂરી છે.  

આ પરિવારોને vssm દ્વારા રાહત સામગ્રી આપવામાં આવી તે જોઈ શકાય છે.

VSSM distributed flood relief kits to Vansfoda families of Chanasma village - Patan

The Saraniyaa and Vansfoda families of Chanasma in Patan practice the traditional occupations of their respective communities. As a result of VSSM’s efforts these families were recently allotted plots of building homes.  However, the construction work on the allotted plots is yet to begin. The settlement they stay in was flooded in the recent  floods. They managed to take some of their belongings and found shelter in a shopping center nearby. These families had lost whatever little they owned. 

VSSM provided the relief kits consisting of food grains and tarpaulins to these families. “ If the construction of houses begins on the plots allotted to us we would be saved from all such trauma and expects of buying new tarpaulins every monsoon. When such calamity strikes even our tarpaulins get washed away!!’ said some of the community members who had come to collect the relief material.

પાટણ જીલ્લાના ચાણસ્મા તાલુકા મથકે રહેતાં સરાણીયા અને વાંસફોડા વાદી પરિવાર પોતાનાં બાપીકા ધંધા સાથે સંકળાયેલા.  આ પરિવારોને vssm ની મદદથી હમણાં જ રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યાનો હુકમ સરકારે કર્યો છે પણ હજુ સુધી તેમના ઘરો બનવાનું કામ શરુ થયું નથી. આ પરિવારો જે જગ્યા પર રહે છે ત્યાં પણ વરસાદનું પાણી અચાનક આવી પડ્યું. શક્ય એટલો સામાન લઈને તેઓ એમનાં વસવાટની બાજુમાં આવેલા શોપિંગ સેન્ટરમાં રહેવા જતા રહ્યા. પણ નુકશાન ખુબ થયું..

vssm દ્વારા આ પરિવારોને અનાજ અને તાડપત્રી આપવામાં આવી જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે. આ પરિવારોને રાહત સામગ્રી આપવા ગયા એ વખતે એમણે કહ્યું, ‘અમને ફાળવેલી જગ્યામાં ઝડપથી ઘર બને તો આ દર ચોમાસે ખરીદવી પડતી તાડપત્રીની માથાકુટમાંથી બચીએ અને વળી આખું ચોમાસું આ તાડપત્રી અમારી સાથે રહે છે એમ પણ નથી.. આવી હોનારતમાં જતી પણ રહે. કેટલું નુકશાન દર વર્ષે થાય.’ આપણે પણ પ્રયત્ન કરીએ છીએ કે આ પરિવારોના ઘર ઝડપથી બને અને ઇચ્છીએ કે આવનારા વર્ષોમાં એમને કોઈ હાલાકી વેઠવી ના પડે..
