The homes of the Saraniya families in Mehsana’s Nagalpur area lay on the lower grounds. The rains absolutely ravaged the area and because of the location their homes were the first to get flooded. The districts of  Bansakantha and Patan were the wort effected but the cities suffered the burnt of poor town planning and water-logging. The Saraniyaa families left their homes and moved to higher grounds taking refuge on a road. Two days later when the waters receded they returned back to find not much could be salvaged from their homes. The immediate need was for food as work was hard to find under such conditions.

The families requested for food and grains, we asked if they needed tarpaulins to which they refused as they did not need it asking us to send it to families who need it more than them. With the nomadic communities need prevails over greed. We sent them the relief food grain kits.  When such circumstances strike the need is of a proper home, we hope these families have a decent home soon..

મહેસાણાના નાગલપુર વિસ્તારમાં સરાણીયા પરિવારો વર્ષોથી રહે. છરી ચપ્પુની ધાર કાઢવાનું કામ કરતા સરાણીયા પરિવારો જે જગ્યા પર રહે છે એ નીચાણવાળી છે. આમ તો આ વખતે આવેલુ પુર બનાસકાંઠા અને પાટણ જીલ્લાના કેટલાક વિસ્તારને તારાજ કરતુ ગયું. નાગલપુરમાં રહેતાં પરિવારોને પુરની કોઈ અસર નહિ પણ નીચાણવાળી જગ્યા પર રહેવાના કારણે તેમના છાપરામાં ખુબ પાણી ભરાયુ. ઘણી ખરાવખરી પણ પલળી ગઈ. છાપરામાં રહેવાય એવી સ્થિતિ ના રહી આખરે જગ્યા મુકીને પાસેના ઉંચાણવાળા રોડ પર આવીને બેઠા. વરસાદ બંધ થયો અને બે દિવસે પાણી ઉતર્યા એટલે છાપરામાં રહેવા ગયા. આ પરિવારોને અનાજની ખાસ જરૂર. વરસતા વરસાદમાં કામ કરવા બહાર જઈ શકાય નહિ એટલે બધાએ ભૂખ્યા બેસી રહેવું પડે.

vssmમાં આ પરિવારોએ અનાજ માટે માંગણી કરી. બનાસકાંઠા અને પાટણ માટે આપણે રાહત સામગ્રી ભેગી કરી જ રહ્યા હતા એટલે અનાજ આપવાનું થઇ શકે એમ હતું. તાડપત્રી માટે આ પરિવારોએ સામેથી ના કહી અને વધારે જરૂરિયાતવાળા માણસો છે એમને આપવા કહ્યું.. વધુ મેળવવાની લાલસાથી પર છે આ પરિવારો..  ઘર નથી એટલે બધું તારાજ થઇ ગયું એવી સ્થિતિમાં આ પરિવારોને રહેવું ના પડે એવી સ્થિતિ ઝટ નિર્માણ પામે એવી આશા..

vssm દ્વારા નાગલપુરમાં રહેતાં ૨૨ સરાણીયા પરિવારોને રાહત કીટ આપવામાં આવી.

Bajaniyaa and Vansfoda - Vansvadee families stay in Bhakhri village. The families had bought buffaloes, goats etc from whatever little savings they had. The floods swept away their belongings including their goats. The families took refuge in the village primary school. Their buffaloes have failed ill after staying in water for 5-6 days. The vet from the animal hospital is treating the sick animals. The tarpaulins provided by VSSM helped them erect temporary refuge. The families are under lot of trauma with images of flooding waters coming before their eyes….prayers are helping them overcome their fears….

VSSM એ વાવ તાલુકાનાં ભાખરી ગામમાં રહેતાં પરિવારોને મદદ પહોંચાડી

ભાખરીમાં પચ્ચીસ બજાણીયા તેમજ પાંચ વાદી પરિવારો રહે. મજૂરી કરી રળેલા પૈસા બચાવી થોડા ઢાંરેઢાંખર ભેંસો, બકરીઓ ખરીદી હતી. વાવાઝોડા સાથેનાં વરસાદમાં ધસમસતા પાણીમાં પરિવારની ચિંતામાં પશુઓ તરફ જોવાની વેળા મળી.. બકરીઓ ધસમસતા પાણીમાં તણાઈ ગઈ. પાંચ-છ દિવસ પ્રાથમિક શાળામાં આશ્રય લીધો. ગામના બીજા લોકોએ પણ ત્યાં જ આશરો લીધો હતો. સતત પાંચ દિવસ પાણીમાં રહેલ ભેંસો બિમાર થઇ છે. હાલમાં પશુ દવાખાનામાંથી વેટરનરી   ઓફિસર ત્યાં તેમનો સ્ટાફ અહી આવીને જરૂરી સૂચના દવાઓ આપી ગયા છે. vssmની સહાય પહોંચ્યા પછી કાંચા ઝૂંપડા ઊભા થયા છે. હજુય એ વાવાઝોડું, વરસાદ ધસમસતું પાણી ભુલાતું નથી. 

vssm ભાખરીમાં રહેતાં વિચરતી જાતિના ૨૨ પરિવારોને રાહત કીટ(અનાજ, તાડપત્રી) આપવામાં આવી.

The Talav village has a temporary settlement of Vansfoda ( Vaas Vadee) and Bajaniyaa families. The families that included very small children had to literally run for their lives when the gushing winds and flood waters rushed into their village during the recent floods. They took refuge on the roof of an Ashramshala situated in their village. Half of the village was already on the terrace of the Ashramshala. Today no one opposed the presence of these families. For five days teh village remained submerged in water. The raw material (bamboos) of the Vaas Vadee began rotting and the baskets that had been prepared became turned black rendering  it worthless for sales. The raw material worth Rs. 25,000 has been reduced to waste. While for the Bajaniyaa families who work as manual labourers there is no scope of employment left until th regions returns back to normalcy. 

For now the relief kits by VSSM has helped them erect temporary structures for shelter and keep the kitchen fires burning.  What now is the big question these and many like them are staring at right now.!!

બનાસકાંઠાના વાવ તાલુકાનાં ટડાવમાં વાંસવાદી અને બજાણીયા પરિવારો અસ્થાયી વસવાટ કરે. તા. ૨૮મી જુલાઈ નાં રોજ ભયંકર વાવાઝોડું અને સાંબેલાધાર વરસાદ સાથે જ ધસમસતા વહી રહેલા પ્રવાહમાં ઝૂંપડા ઊડી ગયા કેટલુંક તણાઈ ગયું. જીવ બચાવવા બાળકો સ્ત્રીઓ સાથે જે હાથ આવ્યુ તે લઈને નાઠા. ગામની આશ્રમશાળાનાં ધાબે પહોંચ્યા. ત્યાં પહેલાંથી જ અડધું ગામ પહોંચી ગયું હતું. પણ આજે આ સમુદાયોનો કોઈએ વિરોધ કર્યો નહિ. પાંચેક દિવસ પાણીમાં ગામ ડૂબેલું હતું. આ તરફ વાંસવાદીઓનાં વાંસ પલળી ગયા. તૈયાર કરેલ ટોપલા, સૂંડલા ભરાયેલા પાણીમાં કાળા થઇ ગયા. જે હવે કોઈ ખરીદવાનું નથી. પચ્ચીસેક હજાર રૂપિયાનો કાચો માલ હાલતો નકામો પડ્યો છે. બજાણીયા પરિવારો મજૂરી કરી આજીવિકા મેળવતા. પણ અત્યારે તો મજૂરી ક્યાં મળે?

vssm તરફથી આપવામાં આવેલી સામગ્રીમાંથી ઝૂંપડા ઊભા કર્યા છે. ખાધ સામગ્રીમાંથી પેટની ભૂખ ભાંગી રહ્યા છે. આવતી કાલે શું... પ્રશ્ન તેમને સતાવી રહ્યો છે. VSSM આ પરિવારોના વ્યવસાય ફરી બેઠાં થાય તે માટે પણ મદદરૂપ થશે.
